Named after Bessie Coleman, the first woman of African-American descent and the first of Native-American descent to hold a pilot’s license, the Bessie Awards is dedicated to recognizing the achievements and efforts of influencers, creative entrepreneurs, marketers, and industry members who have contributed unique voices and impactful work to the travel industry.

Winners were chosen from a combined vote from past attendees of the WITS Travel Creator Summit, as well as votes from the Bessies Society, which is composed of all past Bessie Award winners. They were announced live on stage at the Bessie Awards ceremony on 11 April 2024 at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek in Salt Lake City, Utah.
